Q: Where did you grow up, and what brought you to the Chicago area?

A: I grew up in the suburbs of West Chicago. In 2020, I moved to Miami, Florida, to complete my undergraduate degree. I missed Chicago and moved back after graduating!

Q: Where did you go to college for your music therapy degree?

A: I completed my undergraduate Music Therapy degree at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in Florida.

Q: What individuals and groups do you have experience working with?

A:  During my practicum and internship, I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and populations. My experience spans from supporting infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to working with adults in end-of-life care, each with varying needs. I have especially enjoyed working with adolescents and teens, exploring the balance between childhood and adulthood while encouraging authenticity. I strongly believe in the importance of all forms of encouragement during this developmental stage!

Q: What are your favorite instruments to use in Music Therapy sessions?

A: The voice! I love singing with clients and using the physical sensations that come with vocalizing to support regulation and co-regulation. Because the voice can be such a vulnerable instrument to explore, it is important to provide the care and support clients need to access their voice. I also enjoy the Happi drum, its sound is so relaxing and grounding!

Q: What are your favorite skills to work on in Music Therapy sessions?

A: I enjoy working on social skill building within groups. It is so beneficial for clients to learn how to connect with others and feel safe in those connections. I find it incredibly rewarding to watch a group grow into a cohesive, supportive environment through the use of music. In individual sessions, I enjoy exploring identity discovery and confidence building with clients. Seeing a client uncover who they are and what makes them feel whole is one of the main reasons I chose this career path.

Q: If you weren’t a music therapist, what would you be?

A: A painter. I don't particularly have the skills, but I love painting and everything creative!

Q: What do you want the Dynamic Lynks family to know about you?

A:  I truly value getting to know each client and recognizing the unique qualities of every individual. My commitment is to ensure that every client, student, and parent feels heard, supported, and advocated for through the care I provide.

Q: What does celebrating neurodiversity mean to you?

A:  To me, celebrating neurodiversity means recognizing the different ways people think, learn, and experience the world. It involves continuing to learn about various diagnoses and traits, while also taking the time to understand each person’s specific needs and interests. This approach allows me to provide support that is both effective and respectful of every individual.

Q: What are you most excited about joining the Dynamic Lynks team?

A: I’m excited to join a dedicated and passionate team that is committed to providing the best care for clients, families, and therapists alike. I really appreciate how Dynamic Lynks values diverse approaches and skill sets among its therapists, offering the community a wide range of treatment options. As a new therapist, I have a lot to learn, and this feels like the perfect place to grow and develop.
