Welcome Our New Team Member: Taylor Farlin

We are very excited to welcome Taylor as the newest part of team Dynamic Lynks! Taylor joins us with a diverse background of pediatric, adolescent, and adult mental health support. She has also supported older adults, neuro-rehab patients, and pediatric medical clients across her time as a music therapist.

Q: Where did you grow up, and what brought you to the Chicago area?

A: I grew up in Norfolk, Virginia which is in the southeastern part of Virginia on the water. I moved to the Chicago area after completing my internship to be with my partner and explore new opportunities for both of us.

Q: Where did you go to college for your music therapy degree?

A: I went to the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana.

Q: What individuals and groups do you have experience working with?

A: I have been lucky enough to work with a wide variety of individuals and groups. From toddlers to older adults. I’ve worked pediatric medical, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric from tweens and up, adult medical, and more. I am so thrilled to be able to return to my pediatric music therapy roots more and bring all the things I’ve learned with me.

Q: What are your favorite instruments to use in Music Therapy sessions?

A: I love the ocean drum, xylophone, djembe, and guitar! I also love exploring new interesting or creative instruments and sounds

Q: What are your favorite skills to work on in Music Therapy sessions?

A: I love working on emotional expression and regulation as well as cognitive skills.

Q: If you weren’t a music therapist, what would you be?

A: Tough question because there are a lot of things I think would be fun to explore. I really love plants and growing things so I think I’d love being a florist or having a plant nursery!

Q: What do you want the Dynamic Lynks family to know about you?

A: I’d love for the DL family to know how excited I am to join them! I look forward to bringing all of the things I’ve learned as a music therapist to add to this vibrant and creative community. I’m always excited to take on new adventures and I look forward to getting to know you all!

Q: What does celebrating neurodiversity mean to you?

A: Celebrating neurodiversity means embracing the variety of wonderful ways we can walk through the world and making sure that everyone has access to the tools and opportunities they need to do so.

Q: What are you most excited about joining the Dynamic Lynks team?

A: I’m so excited to join such a powerhouse team of music therapists in providing the absolute best care and most exciting opportunities we can for our community!
