Welcome Our New Team Member: Jessica Boy

Jess is a board certified music therapist who received her degree in music therapy from the University of Dayton where she also minored in psychology. She is excited to help new clients thrive through music!


Q: Where did you grow up, and what brought you to the Chicago area?

A: I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. After completing my internship, I wanted to explore a new city and I had friends that lived in the Chicago area, so I thought this was the perfect city to relocate to!

Q: Where did you go to college for your music therapy degree?

A: I went to the University of Dayton in Ohio.

Q: What individuals and groups do you have experience working with?

A: I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults both individually and in a group setting, with a variety of needs/diagnoses such as developmental disabilities, autism, and other neurodivergent diagnoses. I have also had the opportunity to work with medically frail adolescents with diagnoses such as cerebral palsy.

Q: What are your favorite instruments to use in Music Therapy sessions?

A: My favorite instruments to use in Music Therapy sessions are the rainstick, the ocean drum, and the buffalo drum.

Q: What are your favorite skills to work on in Music Therapy sessions?

A: My favorite skills to work on in Music Therapy sessions are communication and social skills.

Q: If you weren’t a music therapist, what would you be?

A: If I wasn’t a music therapist I would be a speech language pathologist.

Q: What do you want the Dynamic Lynks family to know about you?

A: I want the Dynamic Lynks family to know that I am a very easy going person who's always thinking outside the box. I love taking a song and finding multiple ways to adapt it!

Q: What does celebrating neurodiversity mean to you?

A: To me, celebrating neurodiversity means celebrating the uniqueness of each individual and welcoming the opportunity to help each client reach their full potential. Whether neurodivergent or neurotypical, we all have different ways of thinking and being in the world, and it’s extremely important to me that we honor that!

Q: What are you most excited about joining the Dynamic Lynks team?

A: I am most excited about having the opportunity to collaborate with such an amazing group of individuals! I look forward to growing and learning from the Dynamic Lynks team.
