We are thrilled to introduce you to one of our new interns, Amy who will be joining us through the end of 2024 to complete her clinical internship in Music Therapy!

Q: Where are you going to college for your music therapy degree?  I earned my BA in vocal Performance at California State University, Sacramento and now am working towards my music therapy certificate at Saint Mary of the Woods.

Q: What is your main instrument and what are your other favorite instruments to play?  I have played piano since I was a child and have always enjoyed singing. I also enjoy playing the d’jembe and am learning guitar and ukulele.

Q: Where are you from? California! I grew up in Merced, in the Central Valley, and spent a chunk of my adult life in Sacramento, in Northern California. I moved to Chicago in 2018.

Q: Why do you want to be a music therapist? I have seen the power of music to move people and am looking forward to using music to help people achieve their goals and improve their lives.

Q: What skills are you looking forward to learning about and working on in Music Therapy sessions? I’m looking forward to using music therapy with neurodivergent clients and clients with emotional and behavioral challenges.

Q: What are your interests outside of music therapy? I enjoy gardening, crafting (cross stitch), cooking/baking, doing home improvement projects, and being outdoors-camping, hiking, and kayaking. I also like to watch sci-fi shows - Marvel > DC, and Dr. Who. I’m a mom to three adult sons, and I love animals. I currently have a tuxedo cat and two parakeets.

Q: What do you want the Dynamic Lynks family to know about you? I’m so excited to continue learning about helping clients achieve their goals and build on their strengths using music as a tool. I’m looking forward to learning from the music therapists at Dynamic Lynks and working together with them in sessions.

We are excited for this time with Amy to help her build therapeutic, scientific, and musical skills to best support a diverse range of clients through music therapy!
