This past week, one of my clients asked me what the difference between Music Therapy and music class was. As a board certified music therapist AND certified music educator, this is one of my favorite questions to answer! It is Music Therapy week here in Illinois, so I figured it is the perfect time to talk about music therapy and all of the goals it can be used to accomplish! When I introduce myself as a music therapist, I often get a strange look and I spend the following 5 minutes explaining what music therapy is. 5 Things I Wish Every Client Knew

The start of a new school year often means many new clients, bringing new excitement and new challenges. As I get to know these children and their families, there are so many things I wish they knew to help put them at ease and enjoy the therapeutic process.
